La Otra Liú
This sculpture was inspired by my mother, Liú. Her name was taken from the Turandot opera by Puccini, which my grandparents were fond of. I took the character of Liú from the opera and transformed her as I created my own original character for this piece. The sculpture depicts an Indian woman taking a bath on the river shore after a June monsoon. She is shown with traditional Indian features, including the bindi on her forehead, symbolizing the third eye.
